Hello OPEN Community,
We wanted to provide an update on the planned token burn.
OPEN’s token burn took place on January 29, 2020 via sending tokens to the address 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000001 (https://etherscan.io/tokenholdings?a=0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000001&q=OPENC). 338,750,412 tokens were burned. This address was used as an alternative to the previous commonly used burn address that was no longer supported or enabled to send transactions successfully from popular wallet applications with ERC-20 support.
As previously announced, burned tokens were from a token pool that was created when the token swap concluded. The token pool was used to make any necessary corrections after distribution until we found that no issues existed. Requests for potential corrections continued to be submitted well after the token swap had concluded. Therefore, we wanted to ensure all remaining valid and appropriate requests would have an opportunity to be submitted and resolved before burning, instead of conducting the token burn prematurely. We wanted to make sure that the final token numbers were accurate.
Please stay tuned for more updates in the future!
